L-A-B now accepting applications for DoD ELAP Program
On December 24, 2008, the Assistant Deputy Under Secretary of Defense (Environment, Safety and Occupational Health) issued a memorandum establishing the Department of Defense (DoD) Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (DoD ELAP) and tasking the DoD Environmental Data Quality Workgroup (EDQW) with responsibility for implementing and providing oversight of this program.
The EDQW has reviewed Laboratory Accreditation Bureau's (L-A-B) application for recognition as an Accreditation Body (AB) for the DoD ELAP. Based on L-A-B's status as a signatory to the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA), a review of the documentation submitted with L-A-B's application package, and L-A-B's agreement to abide by the Conditions and Criteria of the DoD ELAP, the EDQW has determined Laboratory Accreditation Bureau (L-A-B) meets the requirements for recognition as an Accreditation Body (AB) for the DoD ELAP. This recognition is contingent upon EDQW review and approval of L-A-B's DoD ELAP assessor training plan and training of assessors prior to the performance of any DoD ELAP assessments. Training is scheduled for May 7 & 8th, 2009.
L-A-B attended a meeting for Accreditation Bodies on 30 and 31 March during the DoD Environmental Monitoring and Data Quality
(EM/DQ) Workshop. During this meeting, representatives from the EDQW provided a presentation on program requirements of the DoD ELAP process and detailed training on the DoD QSM.
L-A-B is now officially accepting applications from laboratories seeking accreditation to the DoD ELAP program. Laboratories may use the 'request a quote' feature of our website.
